Week 2 August 26th-30th

We had a great first week of school!  Our class did a great job learning the procedures and getting used to being back in school again. The girls in our class are all very eager to learn.  We have a great school year ahead of us.

Announcements:

Give with Target: Help to earn Target Gift Cards for our school. Click here to vote.   Please note that our school is listed under our old name Quail Run Primary School. 

Take Home Folders: Please check your child's take home folder for completed work each day.  Completed work can be kept at home unless otherwise noted. Students will also bring home math homework in their folders Monday-Thursday.  Please have your child return their completed work to school the following day. Students must complete all homework to qualify for Fabulous Friday (see below.)

Magazines and Ads: We are still trying to collect a few more magazines and grocery store ads for our fun health lesson this week. 

Fabulous Fridays: We will have our first Fabulous Friday this week.   Students will have the opportunity to go to a fun activity with the whole first grade if they qualify.   Students who do not qualify will complete some extra academic activities in study hall. 

To qualify students must:

1. Have no absences or tardies for the week

2. Receive no think times during the week

3. Turn in all of their homework for the week. 

What we are learning this week:

Literacy:We will be learning how to do our literacy centers this week.  We will also be practicing phonics using the Spalding Phonograms.

Math: Decomposing numbers for addition and subtraction.

Science: Earth Science: Oceans

Social Studies: Community Helpers

Health: The 5 Food Groups and Healthy Eating
